So Ring of Honor had their year ending PPV on-line at http://www.gofightlive.tv/ for $15. It was the first live RoH ppv and it showed. The audio was horrendous for most of the event, so you couldn't hear the announcers. Not that Prazak is great, but Larry Sweeney returned! What's the point of bringing back a paranoid, bi-polar coke-head if you can't hear him?
Besides the audio, the winter storm on the east coast closed many airports, keeping many fans at home and forcing a few card changes. The AAA tag match, Alex Kozlov/Teddy Hart vs Rocky Romero/Jack Evans didn't happen, neither did Necro Butcher and Delirious. Honestly, I'm glad Necro wasn't there, hillbilly, white trash New Jack :-D
-Claudio Castagnoi defeated Colt Cabana, Kenny Omega, and Rhett Titus in a four-corner survival match.
good match, Omega & Colt doing some comedy spots
-Bison Smith and Erick Stevens defeated Bobby Dempsey and Delirious.
Didn't like this, I blame Bobby Dempsey
-Eddie Kingston beat Chris Hero in a fight without honor.
good match, good use of a chain. Chris Hero is better than I gave him credit for.
-The Young Bucks beat Kevin Steen and El Generico.
Steen heel turn after the match. He gave a speech like Sting.. I'm retired, but maybe not
-Kenny King beat Roderick Strong.
good match, bad ending
-Rocky Romero over Alex Koslov.
crowd was great for this, chanting Russia and Cuba :-D Sick finish with a top rope hurricanrana into an armbar submission
-The Briscoes beat The American Wolves to win the ROH Tag Titles.
Man Up!! but why give the belts to the team most likely to go to WWE?
after the match.. Chris Hero & Claudio beat down the Briscoe's!! Kings of Wrestling are back!!
-Jack Evans beat Teddy Hart.
They arrived late, at around 10:40 pm they cut promo's in the ring and asked for 5 minutes. They did everything they could to get the crowd back into it. It was a spot fest, Jack doing every flip, twist combo he could remember, Teddy just kept spiking Jack into the match with ddt's & drivers.
Julius Smokes acted as ref :-D brrrrraaaaaaap!!!
RoH referees were at ringside trying to get the 3 out of the damn ring :-D Teddy & Jack cut promo's after the match, trying to get the fans up for the main event. This was the best 10 minutes of the ppv
-Austin Aries fought Tyler Black to a one-hour draw, so Aries retained the ROH Title.
God, why?? A 60 minute draw that started at 11 pm, during the worst winter storm in years. Crowd was good for 20 minutes, then turned on Aries and Strong. At the 30 minute mark, the crowd realized this will go 60, and started to chant "end this now". Aries and Black brawled up the ramp and backstage, as the crowd chanted "don't come back" towards Tyler Black.
Aries played the cowardly heel, trying to get dq'd, running around at ringside, trying to get Black counted out. Crowd hated it, and you could see them gathering their things and leaving. :(
It was a good match, Aries was a genius with his psychology, Black did his best, but lost the crowd quickly. He used Danielsons' Cattle Mutilation, and got a good pop, but when he used the elbow strikes, they booed. The crowd wanted nothing to do with him, or with a 60 minute draw. A Draw!
This show probably lost RoH more fans than it gained. Not because it was bad, it wasn't bad at all, unprofessional maybe, but not bad. There was just too much of it, it was too long and the crowd didn't care. :(
